Certificate of Human Remains


A. If the deceased,  at the time of death, was a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who did  not die from any
contagious disease, and under the understanding that  the deceased had not been buried or cremated in the United Arab Emirates or the Kingdom of Bahrain,  the Embassy may issue the certificate for the transfer of deceased’s  human remains without a consent from relevant authorities of  Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) upon submitting of the following documents:

  1. Filled out application form for the transfer of human remains
  2. Deceased’s passport
  3. Medical Certificate of Death
  4. Death Certificate from the issuing authority
  5. Proof from Police that there is no  objection for the corpse to be transported out of the United Arab Emirates or the Kingdom of Bahrain
  6. Certification that the human remains had not been buried and that the casket, with the remains, has been prepared for shipment according to international standards  
  7. Proof of Funeral place reservation from Bosnia & Herzegovina
  8. Consular Fee according to the Price List of Consular Services  payable to the bank account of the Embassy of Bosnia and  Herzegovina or paymnet in the embassy using a Visa / Master card.

B. If the cause of death of the deceased was a contagious disease or the deceased had been buried or cremated in
the United Arab Emirates of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the remains have been taken after post exhumation or she/he was not a citizen of Bosnia-Herzegovina, the following documents should be submitted:

  1. Filled out application form for the transfer of human remains
  2. Filled out only one request for the transport of the human remains  from abroad to BiH, depending on the place of interment (Federation of BiH, Republika Srpska, Brčko District BiH)
  3. Medical Certificate of Death
  4. Certified translation of Medical Certificate of Death in either  Serbian, Croatian, or Bosnian by authorised court translator  
  5. Death Certificate from the issuing authority
  6. Proof from the Police that there is no  objection for the corpse to be transported out of the United Arab Emirates or the Kingdom of Bahrain
  7. Certification that the human  remains had not been buried and that the casket, with the remains, has  been prepared for shipment according to international standards  
  8. Proof of Funeral place reservation from Bosnia-Herzegovina,
  9. Proof of identity - it can be one of these documents: passport,  identity card or driver’s licence issued by relevant authorities of Bosnia-Herzegovina or SFRY, or from other country
  10. Consular Fee according to the Price List of Consular Services payable to the bank account of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina or paymnet in the embassy using a Visa / Master card.
